Putin doesn’t strike me as a trusting individual, so I highly doubt that he would be content with mister Xi (or she? ��) assurance that it is going to happen. He needs to be convinced that invasion of Taiwan is in China’s best interest and that they are committed to it. At present, it is not obvious to me that the benefits of invading Taiwan (which definitely exist, as you explained in your article) exceed the cost for China. Although, I agree that using the Russian military operation in Ukrainian as a diversion may help to bring the cost down for China.
